Abstract

Poprzez swoją wieloznaczność pojęcie „pasja” dobrze wyraża charakterystyczny dla chrześcijańskiej wiary, ale też antropologii i filozofii związek miłości z cierpieniem, pragnienia z wyrzeczeniem, życia ze śmiercią. Uniwersalizm chrześcijaństwa, jego modus vivendi, określany już w Nowym Testamencie, a potem przez Ojców Kościoła jako „droga”, jest przekroczeniem ekskluzywizmu poznawczych dróg starożytnej filozofii i gnozy. Prawda okazuje się dostępna nie przez oświecenie wybranych, lecz przez wolny wybór – zgodę na pasję. Na tym polega jej wyjątkowość, królewskość. Chrześcijanin jest zaproszony do współuczestnictwa w pasji życia przez współuczestnictwo w Pasji Chrystusa – Króla, jego cierpieniu i śmierci, gdyż te w istocie są uczestnictwem Boga w pasji człowieczeństwa. J. Ratzinger/Benedykt XVI przekonuje, że poznanie, miłość, wolność – największe egzystencjalne sprawy człowieka – dostępne są jedynie w pokornej zgodzie na to cierpienie. Ono je w doczesnym życiu umożliwia i jest poręką ich realności (prawdy).
