
ABSTRACTThis research aims to produce the storytelling audio media that worthy to use as a learning media and also able to be effective media to improve competence in scrutinizing folklores in subject of bahasa Indonesia. This research is the development of Dick & Carey model, which consists of 10 stages of developments. This research was conducted in two phases: (1) phase of development, aiming to realize storytelling audio media and to know its worthiness as a learning media; (2) phase of research, aiming to know ability of the students to scrutinize after using the storytelling audio media. Method to collect data is questionnaire and test. Questionnaire is used to collect data of worthiness of the storytelling audio media through validation by experts in material and media, and then product trial to individuals, little groups, and big groups. Meanwhile, test is used to collect data of learning outcome in the form of the ability of scrutinize through field trial stage to 44 students of grade eleven SMA Negeri 1 Jabiren Raya. Design of this research uses one group pretest-posttest design model. Result of the research indicates that the ability of the students to scrutinize folklore by using storytelling audio media obtains result of t-calculated > t-table (29.792 > 2.029) and significance level 0.000 < 0.05 so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the storytelling audio media can improve the ability of the students to scrutinize on subject of bahasa Indonesia. In this research, phase of dissemination hasn’t been conducted because of limited time. Product of development of this storytelling audio media is only be tried to students of grade eleven of SMAN 1 Jabiren Raya Kalimantan Tengah.Keywords: storytelling audio media, scrutinizing folklore
