Taken from the last printed book for vihuela, Daza's Il Parnasso (1576), these twenty-two charming and eloquent fantasias constitute this Spanish composer's only surviving original compositions of these pieces. Of these pieces, eighteen are condensed imitative works; four are written in a florid idiomatic style. The edition provides two-staff transcriptions as well as a diplomatic transcription of the original tablatures.
