Abstract

Cultural diversity has been dealt with in various ways in Spanish classrooms, from practically not being taken into account to receiving major recognition in documentation (although less in practice) given the arrival of foreign-origin pupils and families. However, this incorporation is in an educational system with serious future challenges (improving skills to adapt better to the job market, reducing the drop-out rate, reinforcing continuity to non-mandatory levels, etc.). This article analyses, from a qualitative methodological perspective with the empirical focus on Catalonia, the process of schooling foreign-origin pupils. The specific emphasis is on the experience of this process among members of the school management teams, teachers, and parents of pupils.
