Abstract

Intersubjektive Begegnung ist die Keimzelle für soziale Sinnbildung in Kultur und Gesellschaft. In der Moderne entwickelt sich jedoch ein Bruch dieser emotionalen Koppelung zwischen Menschen – durch soziale Exklusion, Diskriminierung und Verdinglichung. Anhand eines inter- und transdisziplinären Vorgehens, in dessen Mittelpunkt eine Theorie der Emotionen steht, untersucht Steffens Formen sozialer Exklusion als Bruch im Zwischenmenschlichen und fragt, wie ein Wandel intersubjektiver Begegnungsformen möglich ist. Er fordert eine neue Kultur des »In-Beziehung-Tretens« mit dem Ziel einer gesellschaftlichen Transformation in Richtung sozialer Gerechtigkeit. Dazu vereint er in dem Konzept der Grenze zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Diskurse, die sich mit zwischenmenschlichen Interaktionen und ihren Auswirkungen auf Psyche und Kultur beschäftigen.
