Abstract

Lo que presento a continuación forma parte de una investigación etnográfica realizada en el departamento de Tacuarembó, Uruguay. Parte de la misma fue financiada por la Comisión Sectorial de Investigación Científica (CSIC) en su Programa de Iniciación a la Investigación. El objetivo principal de esta etnografía es describir, confrontar y discutir sobre los conocimientos populares y científicos, vinculados a prácticas Etnomedicinales, especialmente Etnobotánicas en poblaciones rurales y urbanas seleccionadas en el departamento de Tacuarembó. Algunos de los objetivos específicos son conocer diferentes prácticas cotidianas que se transmiten a nivel generacional, conocimientos ancestrales vinculados a la medicina popular, especialmente a las plantas medicinales. Se entrevistaron actores sociales vinculados a la medicina popular: vendedores y recolectores de plantas medicinales, productores orgánicos, campesinos, artesanos, herbolarias/os, personas adultas mayores que utilizan la medicina popular dentro del espacio familiar, curanderos de campaña, curanderos de religión, profesionales de la salud y otros profesionales. De esta manera, rescaté relatos y prácticas de actores vinculados a prácticas Etnomedicinales. Indagando en los mecanismos actuales de transmisión y en diferentes espacios de socialización, me permitió conocer distintas prácticas cotidianas que se trasmiten a nivel generacional sobre estos saberes ancestrales. Finalmente logré obtener información significativa que me permitió sistematizar el conocimiento de ciertas prácticas Etnomedicinales y en especial Etnobotánicas de plantas medicinales en Tacuarembó.
