Abstract

El presente artículo plantea una reflexión desde las prácticas de creación artísticas en la utilización y apropiación del chimó como elemento simbólico y matérico. En este caso, esta materia ha servido como vehículo creativo para proyectar procesos plásticos en el contexto del arte contemporáneo venezolano en distintos medios. En este sentido utilizo esta sustancia como soporte para construir un lenguaje plástico personal y experimental. Esta investigación se sustenta en un estudio histórico del chimó como materia originaria de nuestra cultura ancestral manifestada actualmente en algunos imaginarios populares en Venezuela que utilizan el chimó como práctica simbólica. Se tendrá como resultado varias actividades (muestras expositivas), de estos procesos plásticos tituladas: Cosmologías Rituales (2008), galería de la UCV, Caracas. Reinvención de lo Sagrado. (2009), Museo Carmelo Fernández, San Felipe-Edo-Yaracuy. Testimonios de fe (2016-2017), Museo Carmelo Fernández, San Felipe-Edo Yaracuy.
