Abstract

Nas esculturas do Museu Solar Monjardim em Vitória (ES), há ornamentos comuns aos da arte sacra brasileira. Uma análise técnica e estilística dessas peças questiona o ornamento e a ornamentação (BONNE, 1996) nos usos e funções das vestes nas imaginárias cristãs na história da arte (TREXLER, 1991). A semelhança dessas esculturas capixabas com algumas peças brasileiras indica sua dupla procedência: de Portugal e do Brasil. Com isso, esperamos contribuir para a divulgação desse acervo em níveis nacional e internacional, gerando impactos positivos para a sua preservação.
