Variation in Terminologie, Terminographie und Phraseographie

Abstract

Auf Grund der großen Bedeutung, die Terminologen dem Postulat der Eineindeutigkeit zwischen Terminus und Begriff beimaßen, wurden Synonymie und andere Erscheinungsformen von Variation lange Zeit stiefmütterlich behandelt. In den vergangenen Jahren hat jedoch diesbezüglich ein gewisses Umdenken stattgefunden: Verschiedene Autoren stehen dem Postulat zunehmend kritisch gegenüber und richten ihre Aufmerksamkeit immer mehr auf die tatsächliche Verwendung von Synonymen und Varianten, die oft unter den Oberbegriff "Variation" subsumiert werden. Nach einer kurzen Schilderung dieser Entwicklung sollen in diesem Beitrag die Lösungen dargestellt werden, die in einer übersetzungsorientierten terminologischen Datenbank (TERMit) erarbeitet wurden, um solche Fälle von Mehrfachbenennung möglichst detailliert zu schildern und somit dem Benutzer die Wahl zwischen alternativen Bezeichnungen zu erleichtern. Im abschließenden Teil wird die Anwendung des gleichen Konzeptes auf die Verwaltung phraseologischer Einheiten, insbesondere fachsprachlicher fester Formeln beschrieben. Auch solche Einheiten können in verschiedenen Formen erscheinen, die als Synonyme, partielle Synonyme und Varianten eingestuft werden.
