Plantes indicatrices et détection des habitats colonisés par le mollusque Omphiscola glabra sur les sols acides du Limousin

Abstract

Des investigations de terrain ont été réalisées pendant trente années en mars ou avril dans 361 fermes élevant des bovins ou des moutons sur sols acides pour noter les plantes indicatrices par rapport à la catégorie d’habitat colonisé par Omphiscola glabra. Sept types d’habitats et six espèces de plantes indicatrices ont été considérés dans les 3.137 sites colo-nisés par la limnée. Juncus effusus a été trouvé dans 65 à 100 % des habitats par rapport à leur type, tandis que le Jonc acutiflore est la meilleure espèce indicatrice pour 87,6 % des habitats situés dans les sources. La superficie des gîtes s’étend jusqu’à 20 m2 et plus dans les sites avec l’un ou l’autre jonc et le nombre d’habitats montre un pic dans la classe des 5,1-10 m2. Des superficies plus faibles ont été notées dans les sites avec les autres plantes et les pics se situent dans la classe des 5,1-10 m2 (sites avec Agrostis stolonifera) ou des 2,1-5 m2 (les trois autres espèces). La densité en adultes transhivernants peut aller jusqu’à plus de 20 individus/m2 et les pics se situent dans la classe des 1-5 adultes/m2 (sites avec Glyceria fluitans) ou dans celle des 5,1-10 adultes/m2 (sites avec les autres espèces). Dans le Limousin, les populations d’O. glabra peuvent donc être détectées par une méthode en deux étapes, incluant l’identification des zones hydrographiques et, dans un secteur donné, l’emploi d’une ou de plusieurs plantes indicatrices (J. effusus le plus souvent).
