Explicit and linearly implicit peer methods for the solution of the compressible Euler equations

Abstract

Wir entwickeln neue Verfahren für die Lösung der der numerischen Wettervorhersage zugrundeliegenden Gleichungen. Die erste Schwierigkeit dabei ist, dass Schallwellen auf Grund der Kompressibilität auftreten. Wenn man ein explizites Verfahren benutzt, beschränken Schallwellen die maximale Zeitschrittweite auf Grund der CFL-Bedingung. Um diese Einschränkung zu vermeiden, werden split-explizite Verfahren benutzt. Wir haben ein Verfahren der Ordnung 2 entwickelt, das im Gegensatz zu den verbreiteten Modellen ohne künstliche Dämpfung stabil ist. Die zweite Schwierigkeit ist die Implementierung der Orografie mittels angeschnittener Zellen. Diese haben den Vorteil, dass keine künstlichen Kräfte wie bei bodenfolgenden Koordinaten auftreten. Andererseits können beliebig kleine Zellen auftauchen. Deshalb haben wir partiell-implizite Verfahren entwickelt. In den vollen Zellen der freien Atmosphäre enthält die Jacobimatrix nur die Akustik. Diese Verfahren sind in der freien Atmosphäre genauso stabil und genau wie das split-explizite Verfahren aber sie können außerdem fast ohne Mehraufwand mit angeschnittenen Zellen rechnen.
