Die Förderung von Future Skills im Fach Digitale Grundbildung

Abstract

This thesis presents a case study of participatory action research, in which 20 third year students at an Austrian middle school programmed a jump & run game within the Scratch programming environment. The project forms part of the subject of basic digital education and is based on the concepts of discovery learning and pair programming. The aim is to examine the potential for developing future skills in teamwork, problem-solving strategies and presentation skills. The theoretical section of the work commences with a definition of the underlying theoretical assumptions, an examination of the potential promotion of future skills within the subject of digital basic education and a reference to the relevant curriculum. The methodology of the empirical part comprises data collection with the assistance of learning diaries and teacher observations, which are subsequently categorized according to the pertinent future skills with the help of qualitative content analysis. A detailed examination of the Scratch project template, created by the teacher for the students, and a precise description of the programming instructions handed to the students throughout the course of this project are also provided. It can be found that the future skills teamwork, problem-solving strategies and presentation skills are promoted through the programming of the Scratch project. However, it is evident that as a result of the school setting there are limitations to this promotion.

Diese Arbeit umfasst eine partizipative Aktionsforschung, in der eine Lehrperson einer 3. Klasse einer österreichischen Mittelschule im Schulfach Digitale Grundbildung auf Basis von Endeckendem Lernen und Pair Programming 20 Schüler:innen ein Jump & Run Spiel mit der Programmierumgebung Scratch programmieren lässt. Im Zentrum stehen hier die Future Skills Teamfähigkeit, Problemlösungsstrategien sowie Präsentationsfähigkeit, deren Förderung es zu erforschen gilt. Begonnen wird mit dem theoretischen Teil der Arbeit, der sämtliche Begriffserklärungen der zugrundeliegenden Theorie, die mögliche Förderung im Unterrichtsfach Digitale Grundbildung sowie den Lehrplanbezug beinhaltet. Die Methodik des empirischen Teils umfasst den Datengewinn mithilfe von Lerntagebüchern sowie Beobachtungen der Lehrperson, die nach den relevanten Future Skills in einer qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse kategorisiert werden. Hier erfolgt außerdem eine genaue Auseinandersetzung mit dem Scratch Projekt, dessen Vorlage von der Lehrperson für die Schüler:innen erstellt wurde sowie die genaue Beschreibung der Programmieranleitung, die die Schüler:innen im Zuge dieses Projektes erhalten. Es wurde herausgefunden, dass die Future Skills Teamfähigkeit, Problemlösungsstrategien sowie Präsentationsfähigkeit durch die Programmierung des Scratch Projektes gefördert werden, hier jedoch Limitationen vorhanden sind, die sich durch das schulische Setting ergeben.
