Digital Game-Based Learning in Programmierlernspielen

Abstract

Recently digital game-based learning in a school context regained more attention. Proponents of this type of learning praise it as absolutely groundbreaking as it has a positive impact on the motivation and the ability to solve problems while their opponents criticize that this form of learning has long-term negative effects on the learning ability of students. In the course of this work a proprietary digital learning game for programming was developed, which was qualitatively evaluated using a questionnaire. The study investigated how the use of a digital learning game affected the motivation of the students.
