Abstract Industry cost-shared field demonstration projects being conducted in fluvial-dominated deltaic (Class 1) reservoirs as part of the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Reservoir Class Program are demonstrating cost-effective, practical technologies. Reserve development costs are less than or competitive with exploration or acquisition costs. Prudent technology applications are starting new waterfloods, giving new life to mature water-floods, creating successes in reservoirs where waterflooding previously failed, and starting successful waterfloods in reservoirs previously thought to be unsuitable for waterflooding. Successful field demonstration and technology transfer efforts are spawning additional technology applications outside DOEs Reservoir Class projects.
