Importance of a Methodology to Evaluate Technology of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV's) for Deep Waters

Abstract

Abstract International Petroleum Industry has invaded deep water for oil and gas exploitation, Pemex has also started plans towards this objetive however, at this moment Pemex is studying deep waters technology, but in the near future will require it. An important point is that maintenance activities in deep water can not be carried out by divers. Therefore remotely operated vehicles are necessary. Since ROV's technology is complicated it is important to have a methodology to evaluation in order to make the best decisions in the selection and buying process. This paper is interesting, because shows the main parameters to be consider, problems, methods and procedures for ROV's technology evaluation.
