Abstract

Filipe Noé da Silva, em De escravos a Benfeitores: os libertos e a munificência na Hispania Romana, nos apresenta pormenorizada investigação sobre uma estratégia de inserção e ascensão social praticada por libertos, na Bética, nos dois primeiros séculos de nossa era, a munificência cívica. O livro, na verdade, é a publicação de sua tese de doutoramento, defendida em 2021, sob orientação de Pedro Paulo Abreu Funari, na Universidade Estadual de Campinas. A trajetória acadêmica do autor é marcada por temáticas relativas ao estudo de grupos subalternizados na Antiguidade, confluindo no presente trabalho. Somam-se aos quatro capítulos que compõem o volume, além de introdução e considerações finais, o prólogo, redigido por Juan Manuel Bermúdez Lorenzo (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos), e a apresentação, da lavra de Lourdes Conde Feitosa (UNISAGRADO).
