Some of the more advanced possibilities for using the potential high temperature and high specific power capability of the magnetohydrodynamic generator in nuclear propulsion are discussed. Radiating and nonradiating closed cycles using liquid and gas core reactors are considered. Also considered is a thrust-augmenting scheme that might substantially enhance the performance of any type of hdgh-thrust propulsion system.
