A new evolutionary aircraft design concept “third generation of airborne transportation” utilizing single Tiltrotor (Tilt Disc) technology and combining the Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) capabilities of a helicopter with the horizontal speed and payload of a traditional jet airplane. Called the HummingTM, this new aircraft will revolutionize regional air transportation and provide an accessible and affordable platform for both the military and commercial markets while reducing capital and operating expenses. This paper presents an overview of the Humming’s novel architectural design and its unique operational challenges.
