Abstract

Este artigo busca refletir acerca dos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos do legado warburguiano mediante dois aspectos: o mergulho nos relevos do Oratório de São Bernardino, em Perugia, e o estudo da Prancha 25 do Atlas Mnemosyne. Tomamos posição de que Warburg legou um método, revelado em premissas destiladas de seus escritos, como propõem diversos pesquisadores italianos da atualidade. Destaca-se o contato direto com os monumentos; a atenção ao detalhe, à exceção; a precedência das imagens; o diálogo entre imagens. A Prancha 25 compõe-se majoritariamente de relevos esculpidos por Agostino di Duccio (1418-1481), pouco conhecido nos compêndios de história da arte. Nesta prancha, aparecem duas imagens do Oratório de São Bernardino: sua fachada e um relevo sobre um milagre do santo. Realizamos, então, um olhar aproximado desta fachada, de modo a explorar a poética deste artista, singular na incorporação do elemento dionisíaco na arte do Renascimento. Anjos, alegorias das Artes Liberais e das Virtudes surgem em Pathosformeln de mênades dançantes, e ninfas no exílio irrompem nas cenas dos milagres. É a partir deste fio condutor que propomos um percurso interpretativo à Prancha 25, focalizando as forças polares entre pagão e cristão, apolíneo e dionisíaco, em síntese dialética nos relevos de Duccio.
