Zygiella x-notata (Clerck 1757) is newly recorded from Japan, based on the specimens collected from Yokohama Port, Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshu in 2003. The known distributional range of the species includes Europe and China, and North and South America possibly as the secondary introduction. It is likely that the present population found in Yokohama Port also originates from human transport.
