The article examines the types of ovens of the northern Selkups, identifies borrowings and determines the impact of innovations on the Selkup life support system. The thopic of Selkup oven has remained a blank spot in ethnography, which gives relevance and novelty to the research. The topic was developed using field research as well as analysis and description. The following conclusions were drawn from the study. Chuval was the traditional stove of the northern Selkups; light iron stoves made of thin sheet iron, which the Selkups made on their own, replaced it. Iron furnaces were distributed among the peasants during the collective farm season, they eased heavy traditional Selkup life, and the mobility of the selkups did not decrease. The manufacture and repair of iron stoves contributed to the establishment of new social ties between the Selkup and non-Selkup communities. In the 1990s, as part of supporting the traditional way of life, the state began to issue factory-made iron stoves made of thick iron to the nomadic Selkups. The appearance on the Selkup farms of heavy, difficult-to-transport stoves became a marker of the decline in Selkup mobility. The third type of ovens - bread ovens - was borrowed from the Russians in ancient times. The Taz selkups, who lived out of all the selkup groups most isolated and emerged from isolation only under Soviet rule, did not find it.
