PENGARUH PERSENTASE RESIN DAN KATALIS TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK KOMPOSIT FIBERGLASS

Abstract

Komposit berbahan dasar fiberglass banyak ditemui pada produksi kapal. Namun, pemakaian komposit dalam proses produksi kapal belum mempunyai ketetapan mutu yang baik tentang pengaruh antara persentase resin dan hardener yang dipakai, akan tetapi banyaknya pemakaian katalis dan resin mempunyai pengaruh pada kekuatan komposit serat sebagai penguat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat perbandingan persentase katalis dan resin pada kuat tarik komposit berbahan fiberglass. Metode yang dipakai pada penelitian ini ialah metode eksperimen yang memakai mesin uji tarik serta meragamkan persentase katalis pada campuran resin dari 1% hingga 2,5%. Hasil yang diperoleh pada penelitian yaitu komposit dengan kandungan persntase 1% mempunyai nilai kuat tarik 99,25 N/mm2, elongasi 19,8% dan modulus elastisitas 518,18 N/mm2. Komposit serta kandungan katalis 1% mempunyai skor kuat tarik 108,65 N/mm2, elongasi 15,6% dan modulus elastisitas 11,86 N/mm2. Komposit yang mengandung katalis 2% mempunyai skor kuat tarik 108,31 N/mm2, elongasi 24,2% dan modulus elastisitas 500,52 N/mm2. Komposit dengan kandungan katalis 2,5% mempunyai skor kuat tarik 104,75 N/mm2, elongasi 19,4% dan modulus elastisitas 658,96 N/mm2. Kekuatan tarik komposit fiberglass terjadi kenaikan pada kandungan katalis 1% sampai 1,5% serta terjadi pelemahan pada kandungan katalis 2% sampai dengan kandungan katalis 2,5%. Hasil kuat tarik paling tinggi berada pada komposit dengan capuran kandungan resin 98,5% dan kandungan katalis 1,5%.
