The study presents a railway system simulation model aimed to evaluate the safety requirements about touch voltage in the railway lines fed by 3 kV DC. In particular, the model analyses the transient period during a fault and the dynamic behavior of the DC circuit breaker. The graphical preprocessor ATP Draw of the ATP version of the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) has been used to develop the model.
