Abstract

The essay offers a new critical edition of Dit dou cerf amoreus, an allegorical poem in Old French, from the late 13th century. Based on this new textual criti- cism, the article then goes on to analyze the structural allegory of the work, both internally within the text and in terms of poetic theory.
