В работе доказан принцип максимума для нагруженного уравнения гиперболо-параболического типа с переменными коэффициентами. Характеристическая нагрузка представляет собой след искомого решения на линии изменения типа. Полученные результаты обобщают принцип максимума для уравнений гиперболо-параболического типа, приведенный в монографии Т. Д. Джураева, а в гиперболической части - известный принцип Агмона - Ниренберга - Проттера.
