Materials were collected during two and one half years beginning with the spring of 1960. The localities of collection were as follows: Baldwin woods, a wooded area 2 miles north of Baldwin, Douglas Co.; Forty Acres, Section 21, Douglas Co.; The University of Kansas Natural History Reservation (K. U. Nat. Hist. Reservation), Douglas Co.; The University of Kansas campus; Lawrence and neighbouring areas, Douglas Co.; Lone Star Lake, Douglas Co.; Tonganoxie Lake, Leavenworth Co.; Woodson Co. State Park, Woodson Co. Examinations were made in the field with a small hand lens (10 X) and in the laboratory with a compound binocular microscope. Freehand sections were cut with a razor blade for detailed microscopic data. The sections of dried specimens were mounted in 2So potassium hydroxide solution in order to swell the spores and other structures to their normal size. For studying hyphal characters, small bits of tissues were taken from the context and mounted in a drop of potassium hydroxide solution. The material was then teased apart and examined. Salient identification characters, frequency of distribution, time and place of collection and the names of hosts (wherever possible) of the species collected are given below. Species with asterisks (*) are reported for the first time from Kansas.
