On December I3, I993, the U.S. Department of Agriculture sponsored a forum in Burlington, Vermont on the topic of hunger. This was the first of six such events to be held throughout the United States, and Ellen Haas, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, was in attendance. Steven Hingtgen, Director of The Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf, spoke at the forum.
