Trombiculid larvae of the subfamily Walchiinae. Eyes present. Cheliceral blade with tricuspid cap. Scutum with 3 setae, the anterolaterals and anteromedian; the posterolateral setae apparently displaced onto the dorsum. Sensillae flagelliform. Genotype: Anomalaspis ambiguus n. sp. The generic name has been compounded from the Greek meaning "unusual shield." Anomalaspis is unique among all other genera of the Walchiinae by virtue of the flagelliform sensillae.
