Abstract : A statistical analysis is made by use of the null hypothesis test for random samples which have been drawn from a population with the continuous distribution function F(x). It is useful for distributions on a circle since its value does not depend on the arbitrary point chosen to begin cumulating the probability density and the sample points. Sampling experiments on bird flight are plotted by use of an IBM 650 computer.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 405 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 1% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 0.1% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
