In this note we give an example of a weakly compact convex subset of L 1 [ 0 , 1 ] {L_1}[0,1] that fails to have the fixed point property for nonexpansive maps. This answers a long-standing question which was recently raised again by S. Reich [7].
Fixed-point theorems, non-expansive map, Fixed-point and coincidence theorems (topological aspects), Contraction-type mappings, nonexpansive mappings, \(A\)-proper mappings, etc., no fixed point

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 139 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 1% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
