Abstract

Mucho se ha discutido en el Peru sobre que es la responsabilidad social empresarial (RSE) ycomo se implementa. La pregunta de por que, en cambio, no ha recibido similar interes. Esta esprecisamente la interrogante que el presente articulo busca responder: ?Que justifica la RSE??Por que las empresas deben ser socialmente responsables?Tomando como punto de partida la clasificacion en cuatro grandes teorias de responsabilidadsocial empresarial o corporativa propuesta por Garriga y Mele (2004), a saber, las teoriasinstrumentales, politicas, integradoras y eticas, se identifican rastros de las mismas en la literaturaperuana. De esta forma, se logra un panorama de las distintas justificaciones brindadas porlos autores peruanos. Posteriormente, se toma partido a favor de las teorias eticas de RSE, enparticular del subgrupo «teoria normativa de los grupos de interes» (stakeholder normativetheory), que ve a la RSE como etica aplicada a los negocios, exponiendo sus versiones utilitaristay deontologica, exposicion que deja a esta ultima mejor posicionada. De esta manera, sepropone ir mas alla de las justificaciones exclusivamente rentistas, segun la cual el empresariodebe ser socialmente responsable porque le conviene, y considerar la deontologia como lajustificacion del por que hacer RSE.
