Digital Transformation in a Manaus Industrial Pole Company (PIM): Impacts of the Implementation of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

Abstract

The objective of the case study is to analyze the impacts of digital transformation, specifically the implementation of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), in a PIM metal cover manufacturing company. The data collection involved direct observation before and after the implementation of the MES, interviews with supervisors, and documentary analysis of internal reports. The results will reveal that the implementation of MES brings significant benefits, such as increased productivity and operational efficiency, as well as improved quality control, product traceability, and maintenance management. However, digital transformation also presents challenges, including team resistance to movement, training needs, and infrastructure limitations. The analysis of the Ator-Network Theory (TAR) highlighted the complexity of the interactions between human and non-human actors, as the MES acts as a central actor that influences the actions in production.
