The study assessed extent of arable crop farmers’ involvement in non-farm activities in Ondo State, Nigeria. A structured interview schedule was used to obtain data from 210 respondents through a multistage sampling technique. Data were analysed using frequencies, mean, percentage, chi-square and correlation. Findings revealed that the mean age of the respondents was 55 years and the majority (67.9%) of the respondents were male. There was a high level of involvement (mean=2.6) in non-farm activities by the respondents. Inadequate finance (mean=1.56) ranked 1st in the constraint to arable farmers’ involvement in non-farm activities. At p< 0.05, there was a significant association between educational level (χ2= 15.648; P= 0.016), Source of Credit (χ2 = 3.771; P= 0.052) and arable farmers involvement in non-farm activities. The study concluded that with the high level of involvement in non-farm activities, alongside side efforts to improve agriculture, there is a need for diversification into the non-farm economy. Hence, in ensuring a sustainable pathway to boosting productivity and thereby ameliorating the menace of poverty and food insecurity in Nigeria, a broader rural development strategy that includes both farm and non-farm activities must be adopted by farmers.
