This article proposes to study the link between marriage and common good from the debate in Argentina of the law 26.618 of legalization of same sex unions as matrimony and the lineaments proposed by Benedict XVI in Caritas in Veritate. Cultural relativism is the principal cause of this lost to research the common good. It proposes a notion of common good that respects human dignity and its social magnitude and considers contributions to the common good of marriage. It warms about the way the law 26.618 grants to unions of people of the same sex benefits that belong to marriage between man and woman without fulfilling social roles of this institution. It proposes some social life conditions that favor to marriage that it contributes to the common good, with special reference to the legislation field, the public policies, the mass media, the enterprise and the work and science and technology world. Finally, it considers the obstacles arose in the recent legislative debate because of the appearance of a militant laicism and the contributions from religions to common good approach to this matter. Este articulo se propone estudiar la vinculacion entre matrimonio y bien comun, a partir del debate en la Argentina de la ley 26618 de legalizacion de las uniones homosexuales como matrimonio y de los lineamientos propuestos por Benedicto XVI en Caritas in Veritate. Se advierte una claudicacion en la busqueda del bien comun que obedece a diferentes factores, sobre todo el relativismo cultural. Se propone una nocion de bien comun que respeta la dignidad de la persona y su dimension social y se consideran las contribuciones del matrimonio al bien comun. Se advierte como la ley 26.618 concede a las uniones de personas del mismo sexo beneficios propios del matrimonio entre varon y mujer sin que se cumplan las funciones sociales de esa institucion. Tambien se proponen algunas condiciones de la vida social que favorecen al matrimonio para que asi contribuya al bien comun, con especial referencia al ambito de la legislacion, las politicas publicas, los medios de comunicacion, la empresa y el mundo del trabajo y la ciencia y la tecnologia. Finalmente, se consideran los obstaculos que surgieron en el reciente debate legislativo por la aparicion de un laicismo militante y la contribucion de las religiones al bien comun desde una sana laicidad en esta materia.
