Abstract

ABSTRACTLight interception efficiency of leaves with widely different display patterns is measured in this exercise. An extinction coefficient (k) is used to study differences among species in their light interception characteristics. A grass represents an inefficient light intercepting canopy, while a legume stand represents a relatively efficient light‐intercepting canopy.
