Comparing soil test kits with standard lab‐based soil tests for agricultural soils

Abstract

Growers often have questions regarding the reliability of the commercial soil NPK test kits for understanding their soil's N, P, and K availability. This article compares and evaluates four soil NPK kits—(i) Rapitest, (ii) LaMotte, (iii) Hanna, and (iv) Hach—with standard laboratory methods for analyzing soil available N, P, and K.
