Abstract FPSO Developments have become a popular choice for smaller fields around the world. However, the majority of developments have encountered significant problems with design/operation and/or project overruns. This paper, based on a study carried out by IGL Engineering Ltd., for the Offshore Safety Division of the UK Health & Safety Executive reports on the principal types of problems encountered, discusses the underlying causes and proposes appropriate remedial actions to prevent recurrence on future projects.
