Abstract

O artista húngaro Kázmer Fejér costuma ser lembrado por sua participação na mostra inaugural do grupo Ruptura, no Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, em 1952, e pela atuação junto ao movimento de arte concreta brasileiro. Este artigo analisa suas atividades na Hungria, entre 1946 e 1948, quando integrou o Grupo de Artistas Abstratos de Budapeste, sob a liderança do crítico húngaro Ernö Kállai. Neste período, Fejér atuou como secretário do grupo, publicou textos teóricos e colaborou com a organização de duas exposições. Partindo da análise de fontes primárias, a pesquisa apresenta a relação intrínseca das pinturas de Fejér com o conceito de bio-romantismo, teoria desenvolvida por Kállai que balizou a produção abstracionista na Hungria no pós-guerra. Apresento as circunstâncias políticas que fizeram Fejér deixar seu país em direção à América Latina, em 1948, e sua passagem por Montevidéu, antes de se instalar em São Paulo, em 1949. O texto relaciona o desenvolvimento da arte concreta no Brasil com a emergência de associações artísticas que apoiaram o abstracionismo na Europa, no imediato pós-guerra. Ao abordar as origens transnacionais do grupo Ruptura, busca-se ampliar as perspectivas de análise da arte concreta no país.
