Paisaje cultural cafetero del centro occidente de Colombia: un patrimonio vivo

Abstract

Dieciséis años se tomó el proceso de consolidación de esta propuesta. En 1995, en el Centro Filial del Consejo de Monumentos Nacionales del Departamento de Caldas se formuló esta propuesta y desde entonces se hicieron todos los esfuerzos para concretar esta idea de la región. El proyecto tiene tres bases: los valores que se desea resaltar, la definición del territorio y su manejo. Su complejidad, pero a la vez su gran valor, radica en la esencia de este paisaje que es vivo y cambiante, y que se adapta a los tiempos, así como en la gran cantidad de actores que han debido intervenir en la formulación de la propuesta. Este proyecto es de gran importancia para el desarrollo económico y social de la región. El autor, quien ha formado parte del proceso desde 1995 hasta la fecha, presenta en este artículo su visión sobre el mismo, basándose para ello en la información resultante del estudio hecho por equipos regionales para construir el expediente final presentado a UNESCO.
