Leguminosas forrageiras na produção animal no Brasil

Abstract

Práticas agropecuárias intensivas vêm ocasionando alterações nas características e qualidade do solo, surgindo a necessidade de adoção de técnicas de manejo sustentáveis. O Brasil é o maior exportador de carne bovina do mundo, porém devido às práticas de manejo inadequadas, cerca de 50% das pastagens encontram-se degradadas. As leguminosas forrageiras têm ganhado destaque como alternativa sustentável para alimentação animal, não só por apresentar elevado valor nutritivo, como pela capacidade em estabelecer relações simbióticas e associativas com bactérias fixadoras de nitrogênio e promotoras de crescimento vegetal, as quais conseguem suprir total ou parcialmente o nitrogênio demandado pelas culturas. Técnicas de coinoculação com bactérias simbióticas e associativas são consideradas como componente chave nos processos de recuperação de pastagens degradadas por proporcionarem um maior acúmulo de biomassa. O objetivo desse trabalho foi apresentar técnicas de recuperação de pastagens degradadas envolvendo o uso de leguminosas forrageiras e a associação com bactérias fixadoras de nitrogênio com o intuito de aumentar a produtividade das pastagens, tornando o sistema sustentável.
