Abstract

This work is devoted to the selection of main power equipment and secant wires of power transmission lines, calculation of steady state and short circuit, as well as the study of the transient stability of the 500/220 kV system. Tasks solved in the course of the work: 1. Selection of the main power equipment of the 500/220 kV electrical power system. 2. Analytical calculation of the steady state maximum load mode and calculation of the steady state operating modes using the «RastrWin» and «EMTP» software packages. 3. Calculation of a single-phase short circuit using the method of symmetrical components and using the «EMTP» program. 4. Study of the transient stability of the system in the «Dymola» and «EMTP» software packages. As a result, the choice of power equipment and cross-sections of power line wires was made and justified. Using the software packages «RastrWin», «EMTP» and «Dymola», the steady state operating mode of the electrical power system, voltages and currents at the location of the asymmetrical short circuit were calculated, and the maximum time for disconnecting the short circuit was calculated for various design cases. Sequential electric braking was proposed as a measure to improve transient stability, and graphs were also provided confirming the effectiveness of this measure.
