Abstract

The work is devoted to research into two variations of hydraulic turbines for the project of the small-scale hydropower plant Pirenga. The purpose of the work is to elaborate two types of adjustable-blade turbines in vertical and horizontal versions, including finding main parameters of the hydraulic machine, forming exploitaition characteristics, sizing flow passages, analysis of shaft forces, sketching flow passages and comparison of results. The work is based on the methodological recommendations of teaching aids, reference books, industry standards and the results of the operation of hydraulic structures described in the literature. Energy transformation laws of bladed hydraulic systems, similarity law, failure theory are taken in an account in the work. The results of that study can be used for comparing and performance evaluation of the flow passages, dimensional assessment and a conclusion about technical-and-economic efficiency of specific hydraulic turbines types for considered hydropower plant.
