Abstract

Corresponds to the content of the sections of the disciplines «Calculus of Variations», «Calculus of variations and optimization methods». The application of methods of calculus of variations and optimization methods to solving problems of the theory of gas lubrication is considered, while, on the example of the studied problems, the main attention is paid to the consideration of the very foundations of calculus of variations and numerical methods of their implementation. The textbook is intended for teachers, researchers, graduate students and students of the higher technical school, as well as for everyone interested in mastering optimization methods in engineering analysis.
