Abstract: Aristotle's notion of ethos in his Rhetoric – the idea that any orator creates an image of himself through his discourse – can help us analyze the public discourse of hosts, guests, journalists or politicians on radio and television. We try here to suggest that linked to the study of enunciation, semiotics help us understand how ethos works from the point of view of the audience, and therefore how audiences consume the public discourse on media through ethos.
