Un debate sobre los principios de la dignidad humana

Abstract

Para el filosofo italiano Benedetto Croce (1866-1952), la UNESCO debe “suscitar un debate oficial, publico e internacional, sobre los principios que estan necesariamente a la base de la dignidad humana y de la civilizacion”, con el fin que “la fuerza de la logica, la cultura, las doctrinas y la posibilidad de un acuerdo fundamental (lleven) el triunfo de las conciencias sobre la obediencia a la autocracia y a los principios totalitarios”. Publicamos aqui su texto enviado a la UNESCO desde Napoles, el 15 de abril de 1947, bajo el titulo “Los derechos del hombre y la situacion historica presente”.Negativo y positivo (1956), obra de la artista italiana Carla Accardi (1924-2014), cofundadora en 1947 del movimiento artistico Forma Uno.Un debate sobre los principios de la dignidad humana© Carla Accardi / Antonella SanfilippoLas declaraciones de derechos (de los derechos naturales e inalienables del hombre, para citar la Declaracion francesa de 1789) estan todas basadas en una teoria que el criticismo de diverso origen ha conseguido destruir: nos referimos a la teoria del derecho natural, que tuvo su razon de ser durante los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII, pero que se ha convertido en algo filosofica e historicamente insostenible. Ni siquiera podemos arguir el caracter moral de tales derechos, porque la moralidad no reconoce derechos que no sean, al mismo tiempo, obligaciones, ni tampoco otra autoridad que la de la moral misma, lo cual no es un hecho natural, sino el principio espiritual pristino.
