En julefortelling på vrangen

Abstract

I denne artikkelen undersøker vi mulighetene for en kritisk lesing av Ingvild Rishøis roman Stargate (2021). Vi analyserer romanens form med vekt på fortellerinstansen, bruken av dialoger og intertekstuelle referanser, og diskuterer hvordan disse forutsetter at leseren tar stilling til ulike tolkingsmuligheter og etiske problemstillinger som romanen indirekte presenterer. Vi støtter oss på Martin Blok Johansens (2018) beskrivelse av tekster preget av motstand og ubestemthet, og Martha Nussbaums (2016) tanker om sammenhengen mellom teksters form og etikk. Vår konklusjon er at Stargates barneperspektiv, de motstridende stemmene som kommer til uttrykk i dialogene, og romanens intertekstuelle lån bidrar til stor grad av ubestemthet i teksten og dermed også motstand, noe som forutsetter at leseren må foreta kritiske valg. Derfor kan den være godt egnet til å utvikle evnen til å interagere kritisk med en skjønnlitterær tekst.
