Abstract

El presente Breve repasa la experiencia latinoamericana en la utilización combinada de los Planes de Beneficios en Salud (PBS) y el Financiamiento Basado en Resultados (FBR) e intenta responder a las siguientes preguntas: ¿por qué es clave una vinculación directa y explícita entre el PBS y el FBR?, ¿cómo pueden potenciarse recíprocamente?, ¿por qué ambos instrumentos son fundamentales para el desarrollo de la poco aprovechada función de “compra estratégica” de servicios de salud? Y, por último, ¿cuáles son las oportunidades y los retos que se presentan para un uso coherente de estas poderosas palancas de transformación de los sistemas de salud?
