This study aimed to systematize the information on forestry canafistula (Peltophorum dubium (Sprengel) Taubert), one of the most important timber species native to Brazil. The canafistula is found from Bahia to Rio Grande do Sul, has widespread use and acceptance of its products and by-products, depending on the wood quality, moderately heavy, hard, durable, high commercial value and potential in the Brazilian timber market. Can be used on furniture, leather tanneries, construction, paper industry, urban forest reclamation, fuel wood and energy. For this reason, it is important to know the behavior of the species as the silvicultural techniques that should be applied in the production of seedlings, establishment and management of the forest, management of plantations, pest control, among others, so that we can maximize production and provide information able to expand the plantations of the species.
