Sin embargo, este se puede convertir en un problema si se toman decisiones desacertadas respecto a la administracion de los recursos economicos disponibles. Puesto que el objeto de gestionar bien las finanzas es el bienestar sostenido de las personas, resulta imperante que ellas posean competencias financieras idoneas para tal fin. La educacion financiera permite conductas adecuadas frente a la gestion, actual y futura, de la tesoreria personalo familiar. No obstante, las variables del entorno que rodea a un individuo, pueden condicionar su conducta general, y en lo particular, en lo referente a decisiones economico-financieras. Utilizando el test Chi-Cuadrado (X2), el presente estudio analizo en 200 estudiantes universitarios de grados medios (V y VI semestre), el nivel de educacion financiera y su relacion con otras variables como edad, formacion profesional, estrato social y sexo. Se encontro que no existian relaciones significativas entre ellas,salvo con la edad. Curiosamente, no se hallo relacion entre el nivel de educacion financiera y el estudio de un programa asociado a las ciencias economicas. EnglishFrom the beginning of the working life, Colombian workers allowed access to different alternatives forsavings and credit types, representing an opportunity. However, this can become a problem if misguideddecisions are made regarding the management of available economic resources. Given that the objectiveof managing finances well is the sustained welfare of the people, it is imperative that they possessadequate financial competencies for that purpose. Financial education allows appropriate behaviorsagainst the current and future management of the personal or family treasury. However, the variablesof the environment that surrounds an individual, can condition their general behavior and therefore,particularly, in relation to economic-financial decisions. Using the Chi-Square test (X2), the presentstudy analyzed in 200 university students of middle grades (V and VI semester), the level of financialeducation and its relationship with other variables such as age, professional training, social stratumand sex. It was found that there were no significant relationships between them, except with age. Interestingly,no relationship was found between the level of financial education and studying a programassociated with economic sciences.
