
The authors investigate conditions for onset and stability of wave structures in magnetic fluids with changing microstructure. Three types of magnetic fluids are examined: fluids which are unstable in any magnetic fields, and fluids for which one or two asymptotically stable states exist. For the last two types of fluids the authors establish the appearance of wave structures. Propagation of these waves results in the transition of medium from metastable state to absolutely stable state.
